Some villagers of Sumaila Local Government in Kano apprehended and killed an armed man, who was suspected to be a member of the Boko Haram and part of a gang that attacked a police station.

Another suspect was killed by the police during a gun duel.

The suspects came to the local government on Saturday on three motorcycles, each carrying three passengers. They attacked the police station at about 4.30p.m. but were repelled by the police. One suspect was killed at the scene while the others fled.

However, as they made their way out of the area toward Kibiya Local Government Area, they were pursued by villagers and the police. Another suspect was then apprehended and lynched to death.

A police spokesperson, Magaji Majiya, said the suspected Boko Haram members faced a stiff resistance from the officers attached to Sumaila council before back up arrived in the form of heavily armed mobile police officers.
