WCON Final: Envoy charges Falcons to beat South Africa

Ahead of the final of the 11th African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) in Accra, Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Ambassador Olufemi Abikoye, has visited the Super Falcons to boost their morale.

Nigeria’s senior female team are billed to confront the Bayana Bayana of South Africa on Saturday in Accra.

Amb Abikoye, accompanied by other officials from the High Commission visited the Super Falcons shortly before their training exercise at the Presbyterian Secondary School, Accra, on Thursday.

Addressing the players, the High Commissioner congratulated the team for picking the ticket for the finals of the AWCON and also for qualifying for the FIFA 2019 Women World Cup in France.

He told them that they have made Nigerians proud indeed, they have made the President proud, and not only are they champions of Nigeria but champions of Africa as a whole.

Amb Abikoye further informed them, that it was their sheer determination that made them pick up the ticket for the finals stressing that the large numbers of Nigerian Community in Ghana and at home are so proud of them.

The High Commissioner, however, told the team that the final of the game against Banyana Banyana of South Africa is not going to be easy, saying the whole country is looking up to them to make Nigeria proud.

He assured that at the end of the tournament, when they must have won, they will all celebrate together at the Nigeria House in Ghana.
