Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State on Tuesday in Ibadan defended the delay in reconstitution his cabinet.
Addressing newsmen at the Government House on the significance of Eid-el–Kabir celebration, Ajimobi said he was waiting for leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to submit their nominees.
“I am waiting for APC leaders to submit lists of their various nominees to guide me in constituting a new cabinet,‚Äô‚Äô he said.
The governor said he dissolved the cabinet to reinvigorate administration of the state.
Ajimobi said the dissolution was due to the series of complaint from APC leaders that they were not carried along in the selection of members of the former cabinet.
“Those who served before performed well, but others should be allowed to serve so that they can have their own opportunity to contribute to the development of the state,‚Äô‚Äô he said.
“This time around, I wrote to party leaders asking them to send their nominees and even local government areas are involved in the process.‚Äô‚Äô he said.
He said that after submission of names, it would take 15 days for the government to announce a new executive council for the state.
On Eid-el–Kabir, the governor, who said the celebration was all about sacrifice, urged the people of the state to rededicate themselves to the service of the state.
The governor had dissolved the cabinet two months ago.
