World, African leaders for Tinubu’s inauguration

A source within the council said while some leaders who may not be physically present have announced their representatives, majority of African leaders have signified intention to be in attendance.

Though the list of the leaders expected is still being guarded by government officials and the PTC, it was gathered that over 60 per cent of African Presidents have formally written to be in Abuja.

It was further gathered the leaders are expected in Abuja on Sunday while the advance team of some of the African leaders are already on the ground.

A source in PTC who spoke in confidence, said: “Letters of invitation were sent to virtually all world leaders and all heads of African nations for the inauguration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima on Monday, May 29.

“We invited all our African brothers and I can tell you that over 60 per cent of them have signified intention to be present for the inauguration. We are expecting most of them on Sunday while the advance team of some are already in Abuja.”

Asked for names of some of the expected world leaders, the source simply said, “I am not obliged to disclose the identity of the expected leaders. You will see them at the ceremony proper on Monday.”

When pressed further, he said: “We have sent out invitations to all the leaders in Africa and the entire world, you can contact embassies in Abuja to give you further information.”

All the visiting leaders will be hosted to a dinner on Monday after the inauguration at the Presidential Villa.
