The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday inaugurated a committee that would help to organise its extraordinary convention slated for October 29.
The 19-man committee headed by the Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari, is saddled with the responsibility of overseeing the constitutional amendment of the party.
It is also expected to handle other activities leading to the convention to select its presidential candidate.
Speaking shortly after the inauguration, Yari said the committee was mandated to ratify the amendment of the party’s constitution so that it has a successful convention.
“The mandate given to us as far as the committee is concerned is to ensure that the convention is done to ratify the amendment of the sections of the party’s constitution so that we can have a successful convention.
“As party men and women, we will work round the clock to see that the party achieves its aim”, he said.
Former Bayelsa State governor, Timpreye Sylva will serve as the committee Secretary while members of the committee include; the National Secretary, Mai Mala Buni, Senator Danjuma Goje, Senator Ajayi Borrofice, Hajiya Aisha Rufai Ibrahim, Bala Borodo and Hon. Temi Harryman.
Other members of the committee are; Dr. Anyim Nyerere, National Organising Secretary, Senator Osita Izunaso, the National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed and the National Welfare Secretary of the party
The committee also has the six zonal National vice chairmen from the South-South, South-East, South-West, North-Central, North-West and the North-East as members.
